NaNoWriMo - Ian

I figure as long as we're posting about things that we can't/won't be able to keep up, I thought I would put it out there that I am going to attempt, after years of chickening out, NaNoWriMo 2007.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this, it is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50 000 word novel, beginning 00:00 November 1 and finishing it by 23:59 November 30. The prose generally isn't pretty, but then, it actually forces you to write. I've had a few attempts at novels just fizzle out because I get stuck in some detail or something. By participating in NaNoWriMo, I'll throw detail, plot consistency and all those factors that make for a good novel to the wind! So, wish me luck. Next post will probably be in March, when I realise I forgot to start.

Attention Reader: The Irish Bull is now a travel blog - a note from Jon

I say "reader" instead of "readers" intentionally, because I hold no illusions when it comes to the fact that nobody reads this thing except for Ian and I.

A quick backgrounder: Ian and I (Jon, the more awesome of the two) have been chums since elementary school. In the ensuing years since Grade 6, Ian has moved to Calgary, and I now live and work in Toronto. The Irish Bull is a blog we update every once in a while, when one of us has something to say. I thought this would be a good opportunity to blog my trip to the West Coast.

To that end, the picture below graphically represents what I’ve been up to today. I had help from a plane for the middle parts.

The plan is as follows: Toronto to Calgary on the 1st of October, Calgary to Toronto on the 13th. In the meantime, I’m going to try my damndest to see Calgary, Kamloops, Vancouver, and Victoria, plus whatever interesting happens along the way.

Keep checking this space for updates and photos. It's no cheechue.com, but I'll try the best I can to keep everybody in the loop.

Cheers,

~JT
